Cooking up delicious creations is as easy as pie for the 12 “cheftestants” featured on Top Chef Jr. Each week, competitors take part in Quick Fire challenges, where they must cook a dish in under an hour that meets the judge’s requests, before moving on to the Elimination Challenge. In this high-stakes round, the chefs prepare one or more dishes to meet set requirements, which are usually complex and require more time to execute. After the judges taste each dish, they declare a winner and name the eliminated contestant, who then must pack up their knives and go home.

The 12 Top Chef Jr. finalists were chosen out of 217 applicants (ages nine through 14) and 50 in-home auditions. While the series features brand new, age-appropriate challenges, fans of the original Top Chef TV series can also expect to see some of their favourites, including “Restaurant Wars” and “Conveyor Belt,” as well as “Quick Fires,” team challenges, field trips around Los Angeles, and of course – eliminations! In addition to his duties as host, Curtis Stone also serves as Head Judge, and will be joined by Top Chef alums Gail Simmons, Richard Blais and Michael Voltaggio.

Hungry for more? New episodes of Top Chef Jr. will be available on The Family Channel App beginning November 7 at 9 p.m. ET, and served up on Family OnDemand starting November 8. Those looking to learn more about the series, contestants and its hosts, can dash over to Family.ca.
