Halifax, NS – 9 October 2018 – DHX Media (or the “Company”) (TSX: DHX, NASDAQ: DHXM), a global children’s content and brands company, and Dentsu Entertainment U.S.A., are pleased to announce that season one of the new, action-packed animated series, Mega Man: Fully Charged, has been picked up for linear broadcast and video-on-demand streaming by POP on their channels and services in the U.K., the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, Malta and Iceland. North American fans can now also check out clips and trailers on the dedicated Mega Man: Fully Charged YouTube channel on DHX Media’s WildBrain network. The channel will launch in the U.K. coinciding with the show’s debut on POP.

The new Mega Man: Fully Charged toy line from JAKKS Pacific is anticipated to hit store shelves in the U.S. in Spring 2019. The global master toy line exclusively includes action figures, figurines, playsets and accessories, role-play items, and everyday dress-up and Halloween costumes. The robust line of products is anticipated to roll out in the U.K. in Fall 2019.

“As the leading commercial kids’ broadcaster in the U.K., POP is the ideal platform to extend the international reach of Mega Man: Fully Charged,” said Josh Scherba, President, DHX Media. “Our creative teams have delivered a fantastic update on the classic Mega Man, and we believe fans new and old are sure to love immersing themselves in these new adventures. With international broadcasters on board, its own YouTube channel on WildBrain, and a terrific line of toys expected next year, Mega Man: Fully Charged is poised to take the world by storm.”

About Mega Man: Fully Charged

Aimed at kids 6 to 11, as well as their parents who grew up loving the video games, the new Mega Man: Fully Charged animated series will feature exciting new technologies and robots, as well as the introduction of Mega Man’s alter-ego, Aki Light. Aki is a normal, upbeat, schoolboy robot with secret, nano-core technology that allows him to transform into the mega-powered hero Mega Man! With his Mega Buster arm cannon and iconic helmet, Mega Man battles the wickedest villains Silicon City has to offer. Beloved characters, such as Mega Man’s robotic dog, Rush, will return – while new characters, like Mega Mini™ and Suna Light, will make their debut!

The Mega Man franchise is grounded in a series of video games, first launched in 1987 by Capcom, featuring battles fought by the eponymous blue robot and an extensive cast of allies and enemies. The Mega Man multiverse has spawned over 136 video games on multiple gaming systems, selling over 32 million copies worldwide, as well as a plethora of toys, comics and collectibles.  On October 2, 2018, Capcom launched the highly anticipated video game sequel, Mega Man 11, available now for home consoles and Windows PC.

A highly rated Mega Man TV series was popular in the USA in the mid-1990s and aired on ABC Family. The new animated Mega Man series focuses on a normal, upbeat schoolboy robot, who discovers that deep within his programming lies secret protocols that can transform him into the powerful Mega Man. And, as the world’s first robotic super-hero, Mega Man must face the threats of Silicon City, while trying to preserve his secret identity and maintain a regular robot boy life.

Based on the legendary Capcom Mega Man video game franchise, Mega Man: Fully Charged is an original DHX Media co-production with Dentsu Entertainment USA, Inc. Written and executive produced by Man of Action Entertainment (Ben 10, Generator Rex, and the creators of the characters and team featured in Big Hero 6), the series is animated by DHX Media’s Vancouver studio.  DHX Media manages distribution and licensing rights worldwide, excluding Japan, for the new Mega Man series. Dentsu Entertainment manages distribution and licensing in Japan.
